Do you know global chatbot market is expected to become 1.25 billion dollars by 2025, the AR VR market to reach 215 billion by 2021 and the IOT market is to touch 457 billion by 2020?
We are pacing towards the future in the realm of internet with the speed of light. New technologies are emerging and changing the way industries function.

If you’re a tech fanatic, worried for your business, thinking what future has in-store for the tech world or just want to be updated in the above mentioned ultra cool technologies, this blog is for you.

We’ve been tracking these emerging (and existing) technologies from 2016. In this blog we’re covering the changes and updates on these technologies and trying to predict the coming trends.

The technological updates of 2017 were huge and stunning, the tech has moved at a swifter place in 2017 than any other year. Let’s break it down for each technology.

Artificial Intelligence:

AI is an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and react like humans with a set algorithm at the base. In 2017, AI has expanded in robotics, which in turn are branching out in Chatbots and Self-driving cars.

Self-driving Cars: Autonomous car or a robotic car is a vehicle which is capable of sensing its environment and navigating without human assistance. Alike humans, self driving cars require sensors to understand the world around them and a brain that collects, processes and chooses specific actions based on the information gathered. The same goes for self-driving cars, and each autonomous vehicle is outfitted with advanced tools to gather information, including long-range radar, LIDAR, cameras, short/medium-range radar, and ultrasound.

While self-driving cars were expected to be normal in around 2020, but in November 2017, Waymo announced that fully autonomous driving vehicles, with no human behind the wheels, are now available for testing in real traffic conditions on streets and highways , in Phoenix, Arizona. In near future, Mercedes and Bosch are making their self-driving cars. Volkmar Denner, Bosch chief, has informed Automobilwoche, that the two companies will put test vehicles on the road within few weeks.

This means, if things go right, we’re gonna see a trend of high tech self driving cars, less human errors in traffic, less number of licenses getting issued, great amount of time being saved, decline in the sales of traditional cars and higher life dependency on technology.

Chatbot: is a communication interface that engages & maintains in conversations with a user in natural language, understands the purpose of the user and replies on the basis of predefined rules and data gathered in past experience. While chatbots have existed for years without going mainstream, several global trends have made 2017, the year of chatbots, like:

Mobile messenger: Chatbots have given a boost to the mobile ecommerce industry, for example : Sephora, ebay etc. Mobile messengers such as facebook messenger, whatsapp, wechat etc have become the most preferred means of communication on mobile devices. People are getting more comfortable with having conversation through these platforms, thus more and more companies are trying to expand their reach and provide a better experience through these platforms. Companies are placing their chatbots with gamifications and attractive names which engage in conversations with their users.
Cost reduction in chatbot development: Initially, the cost of developing a good interactive chatbot was huge. In recent years majorly 2017, software companies including IBM, Microsoft, Facebook and Google have released and made available for free advanced development tools and framework that includes a vast amount of research data. So the development is in the hands of your local web development company with the technology available at much cheaper rate.
Support for chatbots by Facebook, Microsoft and other leaders: Facebook has now allowed businesses to deliver automated customer support, e-commerce guidance, content and interactive experiences through chatbots. In march 2016, Microsoft announced its Bot framework. As a result, it is now possible to develop and release approved bots in Facebook messenger, Skype, Slack, telegram and many other popular messengers.
Chatbots to drive marketing and sales: Chatbots are smart and intelligent tools that can be leveraged to market and sell products in 2018. They are programmed to provide a personalized experience to the customer that give them better experience and thus, help them connect with the brand better. Since the idea of mass marketing is fading the future is of one to one marketing. While this idea may not seem feasible and scalable for organisations, chatbots are making it possible. They can now provide support and guidance to your users, give suggestions and simply gather feedback for you to analyse.
2. Augmented and virtual reality:

It is a mind blowing technology that ingeniously layers the computer generated enhancements on top of existing world to make it more interactive. It is similar to getting a message and then getting It popped up in air or on some object in real world so you can answer the message without the hassle of looking at your phone, with the help of hologram or some similar advanced technology.

Now let’s take a look at the advancements made in this technology in the year 2017.

AR and the future of Iphones: AR has not even entered in the game till now, but Apple’s CEO has been glorifying the technology so far and can’t stop singing praises for it. There is even a buzz that Apple is going to incorporate the technology in Iphones. Though they won’t be releasing the phones in the following year but there is a possibility that soon we will be having cameras with depth sensors, which will open doors to new world for photography lovers.
Online shopping with the help of AR: Amazon has already introduced ARKit to display a limited selection of furniture, home decor, electronics, and toys in AR, and soon is going to push athletic wear in augmented reality. Great news for people who love to shop online as they will get a better view of what they are buying with things like getting the look of a furniture through augmented placement in your home.
Gravbox: Ever wondered how amazing it would be to create geological terrains through your hands and see how gravity works on objects moving on them in real life? Sounds like a scene of some sci-fi flick but it is actually happening. Undergraduates of University of Lowa have designed and built an augmented reality sandbox- Gravbox that helps users visualize how variations in gravity can affect moving objects.
Pokemon go: Unless and until you are living under a rock, you must have heard of the new game pokemon go that is not only popular amongst teenagers but is gaining popularity amongst adults too. The game being perfect example of augmented reality has everyone go gaga over it and features a gaming experience like never before. While the game was the buzz in 2017 there are other applications that are using the same technology like filters in Snapchat.
In 2018 and near future AR has greater implications not only in gaming but while creating 3D objects and offshore education.

Virtual reality is an old player in the game of these two technologies. It is an artificial, computer-generated simulation or recreation of a real life environment or situation. It immerses the user by making them feel like they are experiencing the simulated reality firsthand, primarily by stimulating their vision and hearing. Now let’s take a look at the advancement during the year 2017.

Wireless virtual reality to take over: Ditch those wires because wireless is the new cool. Every electronic device is now a days wireless, because of course it is more convenient to carry around your devices without the hassle of those tangled wires. So how could virtual reality lag behind. The future is near where we will have wireless virtual reality .
Virtual reality shopping: Big names in retail market like Alibaba ,has launched a VR store called BUY+ that allows buyers to wander around the mall with big brand names like macy’s , Target and Costco. So now just sit and relax at your home while you shop for everything you need, thanks to virtual reality.
Electronic skin: At first glance, the shiny little gold elements look like a modern tattoo. But on this extremely thin, almost invisible foil that sticks to the palm of the hand like a second skin, there are sensors which provide people with a “sixth sense” for magnetic fields. These sensors will enable people to manipulate everyday objects or control appliances both in the physical world and in augmented or virtual reality with mere gestures, similar to how we use a smartphone now.
The technologies have great applications coming in 2018. Facebook has announced a messaging app for kids i.e., Facebook Messenger Kids , Snapchat plans to launch a new augmented reality art platform featuring pop artist Jeff Koons and others. It will allow art to be pinned to specific locations in augmented reality so users can see it when they hold up their phones in the right spot.

  1. IoT as wearables:

  1. Cyber security:
Though internet is a great place to store your data but still the fear of getting your private data being leaked or hacked by hackers is a concern of most people, online. Cyber security protects the integrity of networks, programs and data from attack, damage and unauthorized access. While we’ve seen some great data losses like data hack of yahoo’s user base, there have been really good advancements in the field.

Past couple of years have seen great increase in the usage of following techniques and advancements are done day by day to curb the data losses.

Fingerprinting technology: Built on the uniqueness of mankind. Now users can secure data just by getting their fingerprint scanned and this makes your data highly protected as there is an almost negligible chance that anybody can unknowingly or knowingly stumble upon your data.
IP location tracing: Now the trouble makers need to be more cautious as the feature of IP location tracing allows the cyber crime team and the cops to trace the location of hackers at a quicker pace with more accuracy.
JPEG encryption: Encrypting highly confidential data in images has been used for a long time to transfer data from one authority to another without it being leaked to the hackers or undesirable lot. JPEG encryption allows user to encrypt data in JPEG images and makes it hacker proof.

Cloud computing: Today companies worldwide are increasingly using cloud computing. Not only it saves time but also your money and resources. The process involves storing important data and at times very confidential information. Cloud services are heavily reliable with huge server potentials, multiple backups and encryption of data which makes it a better choice than conventional ways of storing data.
QR code scanner: QR code, being used extensively for shopping, money transferring. what you need to do is just scan the code and you can shop around or transfer money.
There’s lot of advancement yet to happen as hackers are becoming smarter with their ways of committing cyber crimes, specially introduction of blockchain that is trying to solve the authentication problem. The predictions for upcoming such technologies include determining authenticity in the age of fake news, Consumer privacy and the GDPR, Artificial Intelligence as a double-edged sword etc.

The future is promising for these technologies and we’re much excited to cover more aspects of them.
